Free Internal Link Checker

✓ Free to Use • No Signup • Live Check — We Fetch the URL for You

Enter a URL and get every link found in its served HTML: the anchor text, the destination, whether it stays on the same site or leaves it, and the rel attributes that decide how search engines treat it. Totals up top — internal, external, and the dofollow share — then the full table to work through.

What Is the Internal Link Checker?

Internal links are how a site explains itself to crawlers: they distribute authority between pages, establish which pages matter, and give every important page a path to be found. A page nobody links to is a page search engines reasonably conclude is not important.

This checker reads one page deeply: every anchor in the served HTML, classified and counted. The patterns it exposes are the common ones — descriptive anchors replaced by bare URLs and click-here filler, editorial links wrongly marked nofollow, or a page whose outgoing links are ninety percent navigation and ten percent content. For the whole-site picture you need a crawl; for the page in front of you, this is the full truth.

How to Use It

  1. Paste the URL of the page to inspect.
  2. Click Check Links.
  3. Read the totals: internal vs external, and how many pass authority (dofollow).
  4. Scan the table for bare-URL anchors, repeated filler anchors and unexpected nofollow links.

What You Get

Every link listed with anchor and destination
Internal vs external classification
rel attributes shown per link (nofollow, sponsored, ugc)
Dofollow share calculated for you

What a healthy internal link profile on a single page looks like

On a well-built page, links fall into clear layers. Navigation, breadcrumbs and the footer carry the structural links every page shares, while the body copy carries the editorial ones: descriptive anchors pointing at the specific articles, guides and product pages that genuinely extend the topic. Those in-content links do most of the ranking work, because they sit inside relevant text and tell a crawler exactly what the destination covers. The exact count matters less than the pattern: important pages attract links from many relevant pages, anchors vary naturally instead of repeating one phrase, and no section of the site is left reachable only through a menu.

The rel attributes tell a second story. Internal links are normally plain followable links with no rel value at all, so the dofollow share of a healthy page is high and any nofollow on an internal link is a deliberate exception, not an accident. Paid or incentivised outbound links should carry the sponsored attribute, and links inside user-submitted content belong under ugc; both labels exist so you can be honest about a link without removing it. The checker totals these attributes across the page, which makes the profile readable at a glance: mostly clean internal links, clearly labelled exceptions, and nothing important quietly suppressed.

The problems this checker exposes

The first problems are in the anchors themselves. Long lists of bare URLs, or repeated anchors like click here and read more, hand the crawler a destination with no description of what sits behind it, and they usually signal links that were pasted in rather than written in. Descriptive anchors are not decoration; they are the label the linking page puts on yours. When this checker shows your most-linked internal pages described by naked URLs and filler phrases, the fix is editorial, not technical: rewrite the sentences around the links so the anchor itself summarises the page it sends people to.

Two structural problems show up in the totals. The first is a page where nearly every link carries nofollow, often the leftover of an old sculpting habit or a plugin setting nobody reviewed; applied to your own internal links, it simply tells crawlers to ignore paths through your own site. The second is concentration: dozens of links in the header, sidebar and footer, and none in the body, where they would carry context. A page linked only from navigation is treated as furniture, while a page linked from body copy is treated as a recommendation. The checker separates these groups so you can see which kind your pages are collecting.

Bare-URL and click-here anchors: rewrite the sentence, not just the link
Internal links marked nofollow: remove the attribute unless it was deliberate
All links in navigation, none in the body: add contextual links from relevant copy
Paid outbound links without the sponsored attribute: label them honestly or remove them

Privacy: to run this check, our server fetches the public URL you enter — the same request any browser or crawler makes. The URL and its results are not stored; close the tab and they are gone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as an internal link?

Any link whose destination is on the same host as the page being checked — including subpages, images and files. Subdomains count as internal here; treat them deliberately, because search engines may treat a subdomain as a separate site.

Why are some of my links missing?

The checker reads the HTML as served. Links injected later by JavaScript — some menus, infinite-scroll content, comment widgets — may not be in the served markup, so they do not appear. That is the same first view a crawler gets.

What is a healthy dofollow share?

There is no universal number, but on a normal content page most editorial links should be plain, attribute-free links. If nearly everything is nofollow, something is misconfigured; if literally everything is dofollow including paid placements, that is a disclosure problem instead.

Can I check a competitor’s page?

Yes — any public URL works. Their most-linked internal pages and anchor patterns are a fast read on how a competitor structures authority, and it is all public information on their own site.
