Free Meta Tag Generator

✓ Free to Use • No Signup • Processed Locally in Your Browser

Fill in the fields once and get a complete, valid set of meta tags — title, description, robots directive and Open Graph/Twitter cards — ready to paste into your page head.

What Is the Meta Tag Generator?

Meta tags are the invisible instructions in a page's : the description a search engine may show, the robots directive that permits or prevents indexing, and the Open Graph tags that control how the page looks when shared on social media and messaging apps.

Writing them by hand invites typos — a missing quote or an outdated tag copied from another page. This generator produces a consistent block from your inputs, and leaves out anything you do not set, so the output contains exactly what you intended.

How to Use It

  1. Enter the page title and meta description.
  2. Choose a robots directive (index/follow is the normal default).
  3. Add Open Graph fields if the page will be shared socially.
  4. Copy the block into the <head> of your page or your CMS SEO fields.

What You Get

Title, description and robots in one block
Open Graph + Twitter card tags
Only includes fields you actually fill
Clean formatting, ready to paste
Free, instant, nothing stored

The Tags That Matter — and the Ones That Do Not

The title tag and meta description carry the most weight: one is a primary input to your search result's headline, the other to its summary. The robots meta tag matters when you need to override defaults (noindex for a thank-you page, for instance). The viewport tag is not optional in the mobile era — without it, phones render a shrunken desktop page. Charset and content-type declarations keep text rendering correctly.

The famous meta keywords tag does not matter: every major engine ignores it, and has for well over a decade. This generator omits it deliberately. If an old template on your site still emits one stuffed with terms, removing it is free hygiene — it informs competitors of your target list and helps nobody else.

Open Graph and How Your Links Look When Shared

When a page is pasted into WhatsApp, Telegram, LinkedIn or X, the receiving platform builds its preview card from Open Graph tags: og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url. Without them, the platform guesses — a random image, the first paragraph, sometimes the site name as the title — and the shared link looks broken or untrustworthy next to competitors whose cards are crisp.

Set an absolute image URL (the full https address, not a relative path) at roughly 1200×630 pixels. Keep the OG title and description written for a feed, not a search result: slightly more direct, still honest. This generator emits matching Twitter card tags alongside, so both ecosystems render the same story.

Robots Directives Without the Fear

The default for a normal page is index, follow: search engines may list it and may follow its links. Because that is the default, most pages do not need the tag at all — which is why this generator only includes it when you choose a value. Reach for noindex, follow on pages that serve users but not searchers: checkout confirmations, internal search results, login and account screens, thin utility pages. Reserve noindex, nofollow for genuinely closed areas.

One caution: a robots tag only works if the page can be crawled. Blocking the same page in robots.txt hides the tag from the crawler, and the URL can still surface as a bare link. The two tools solve different halves of the problem — use the generator here for the tag, and check robots.txt before blaming the tag when a page will not leave the index.

A Complete Example, Annotated

A finished block for an ordinary service page contains six to ten lines: the title, the description, the viewport line, and the Open Graph set (title, description, type, url, image) with a Twitter card line. That is all. No keywords tag, no author tag, no revisit-after or rating curiosities inherited from 2005 templates — every line present earns its place by being read by something real.

Generate yours field by field: if the page will never be shared socially, the OG fields can be minimal (platforms fall back to title and description), but for any page a sales team or a client might paste into a chat — which is to say, most commercial pages — the full set costs one extra minute and controls the first impression. Paste the block, view the page source once to confirm it landed intact, and move on; meta tags are maintenance, not a project.

Privacy: this tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded, stored or tracked — close the tab and it is gone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I still need a meta keywords tag?

No. Major search engines ignore it, so this generator leaves it out. Spend the effort on the title and description instead.

What robots setting should most pages use?

"index, follow" — the default behaviour — so it usually does not need stating at all. Use noindex only for pages you deliberately keep out of search: thank-you pages, internal search results, staging content.

Why do my shared links show the wrong image or title?

Social platforms read Open Graph tags. Set the OG title, description and an absolute image URL (1200×630 works well) and the share preview will follow them.

Can I use this for a whole site at once?

The generator works per page, which is correct — every page should have its own title and description written for its own topic.
